No, I haven't been shipped off to Finland as punishment for eating all of the Bombadil biscuits, it's just that there have been rather a lot of public holidays lately. They invariably fall on a Friday, so we are not in the office.

I have been working on a couple of Bombadil's flagship projects, whilst at the same time wishing that things would move just a little faster. Sahil's fantasy adventure book is finally nearly ready, after we decided to undertake a major page referencing exercise on it. Perhaps not the most sensible thing, looking back on it, when I consider the amount of extra work that it generated, but it will make the book infinately more readable. It is a book that allows the reader to make their own choices throughout the story so it must be carefully checked, then re-checked, otherwise it will not make any sense.

The May Fire at Örebro and the Archery Club party (in my villa) has been extensively covered by other Bombadillians elsewhere, so I shall not harp on about that. I am, with Steinar's help, building a kayak. I have recently discovered the joys of paddling along a river in a beautiful wodden crafy and so I have started on my own construction. It appears to be growing quite quickly, but I have a feeling it will start to take a lot longer once it is time for sanding.

I am also learning Swedish. It's not really neccessary as nearly everyone here speaks impeccable English (even the bums outside the off-licence) but as I have been here for a while now, I thought it was time to learn. It's going rather well (I'm on week two of learning).

I andra nyheter, Bombadil hunden är för närvarande mycket blöter.

/John

Anti ant

Just about the biggest news at the moment is that ants have infiltrated the inner sanctum of my domain. Ants in my bedroom. I cleared up my pants in case they were attracting them, but no luck. Mari at the office suggested that I should put pepper down, which I did. Ants don't like pepper, but apparently they don't mind walking around it, so it didn't really work. Plus it got trodden around everywhere, so tonight I vaccuumed it up, which meant that most of it blew out of the other end of the vacuum cleaner and is now airbourne. We bought some ant poisin at the supermarket tonight, but it smells really bad. I think I prefered the ants, at least they didn't smell.

Bouncing boats

Sara and I have been working on the photography and illustrations for her book of poetry that will be published soon, Steinar's kayak is taking shape (and I'm told bounced as a result of being dropped, sustaining only very minor damage) and the website is looking a little more like a website. We didn't see any wildlife, but we did happen across moose footprints.

Sweden has a "right to roam" arrangement whereby walkers are allowed to crash about wherever they wish, provided they refrain from peering through the windows of isolated saunas. The downside of this is that there are very few dedicated footpaths. I've been trying to walk around the lake for a long time, but I've always failed because it involves walking along a main road, or a railway line, or wading. We got rather further than usual today by walking across the ice, until we chickened out and legged it back to terra firma. I've cleared all the junk out, removed the lockers, dismantled the changing cubicles, taken down the ducting that was coursing its way across the ceiling, painted the walls, laid carpet tiles and finally vacuumed 30 years worth of dead bees out of the light fittings. For some reason I don't notice it all morning, or for most of the afternoon.

I made my first Terrible Joke in Swedish the other day, something which I'm sure you'll agree is something of a milestone. It happened when we were having "fika", which is the Swedish coffee break that happens at 10 in the morning, and then again at 3 in the afternoon. The conversation went something like this.

Alex (Marianne's 10 year son): I need someone to lend a hand with my plans for world domination.
Marrianne: Not now, it's fika (coffee break) time.
Alex: But Mussolini didn't have this problem. Come now, I command you!
Marrianne: Alex, fika!
John: But Alex is a pojke (boy), not a flicka (girl).
All: Leave the building immediately...

It says more for my Swedish than it does for the quality of the jokes at Bombadil, but only marginally.

The weather at the beginning of the week was particularly English, that is to say cold and windy with grey skies. It's gone back to being Swedish now, with cold air, low humidity, blue skies and sun. I prefer it this way. I took some photographs of the ice on the lake today. I think ice may be my new obsession as my previous obsession with trees was wearing a little thin. (There's a joke in there somewhere, not quite sure where though...)

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291186656749798610" style="WIDTH: 320px; In fact, I believe I have done more in the last couple of months than I did all of last year. Leaving out the portion of last year that I was on the Plymouth-Dakar Rally, of course.

There's a boat at the Bombadil site. It's out of the water, sitting on a trailer and restorative work has been started, but stopped at an early stage. We became curious about it, made a few enquiries and were told that the owner was a previous tenant of one of the workshops and was prepared to effectively gift it to us. So today Marianne and I went to collect the sail and some other bits and pieces from Steinar, the owner. Having met him for the first time, we discovered that he used part of his rented premesis here to make kayaks. He stopped work on both his kayaks and his boat due to poor health.

Several years on, Steinar has now recovered, but hasn't been doing a lot lately. So we've invited him to continue building kayaks in his old workshop and help us to restore the boat. He was also involved with the archery club here, which he will revive. There's an archery club party soon, which he will organise.

I only have these "artistic" photos of the boat that I took the other day to use in a presentation. I'll take some proper pictures tomorrow. It's a Swedish built Koster class.

Learn more about the Koster class at the Wooden Boat Rescue Foundation's website.

Steinar also told us some stories about our site. Apparently, the building he used to rent is inhabited by poltergeists, which can be heard knocking, banging and rattling doors at night. Nobel, now best known for the peace prize that bears his name, made his money by inventing and manufacturing dynamite. Every so often, there was an explosion and the inevitable loss of life. On one occasion in the 1970s the explosion was so large that all the windows in the town, around a quarter of a mile away, were blown out.

He also spent time walking in the woods close by; he saw a bear on two occasions in 2006 and he has seen wolves here too. There seems to be one a month, on average - not that I'm complaining. I spent it in the way any self-respecting Englishman would - cleaning. Cleaning the floors mostly, and what a lot of floors there are too. The utlity room is a little larger than my bedroom was in England.

Yesterday was my first day officially working at Bombadil Publishing. I set up my office in the morning and updated the Bombadil website in the afternoon. See www.bombadilpublishing.com - please report all dodgy grammar and broken links. I know the webshop leaves a little to be desired in the presentation stakes; we're currently working out how to edit the text there. It was written by someone whose first language is not English, so they've done well.

As you will note, my office sports the latest in invisible computer equipment.

Could "twelfth" be the only word in the English language to have both "f" and "th" in tandem?

Snow news

It snowed today, Pixie by and large behaved herself and I painted just about everything in sight.

I know I've got a bit of an obsession about photographing trees, but vast snowy vistas just aren't that photogenic. She has spent the whole day being very naughty. She has the good grace to be very apologetic and go off to her basket with her tail between her legs every time, but it's becoming a little tiring. Then the publication of my second book, "The Student's Guide to Shared Accommodation". Of course, the was a lot of waiting around too, which involved working in a pretty menial job. But now it's 2009, I'm living in a huge house in a very beautiful part of Sweden. I've got the job I've always wanted, as many creative outlets as I can shake a stick at, a very comfortable lifestyle and a whole lot of prospects. And to top it all off, Rix FM, the local radio station that just played repetitive rubbish pop has suddenly and inexplicably turned into a classic rock station. I have no idea how or why, but it's fantastic.

Repetitive pop is big baggy pants...

2009

Göran and Siv have been visiting Nora for New Year, the celebrations for which involved a vast quantity of excellent food and drink and culminated in a large firework display over the frozen lake. And an ensuite.

Something that I didn't mention in yesterday's entry (I must have been too excited about the camera); Sara and her parents came on Sunday with a trailer load of "house stuff". We now have a dining table and three chairs (none of which are orange), more than one plate, cutlery, saucepans and a coffee machine. The coffee machine was an unexpected bonus, so unexpected in fact that I don't have any coffee or filters, otherwise I would have been able to do the civilised thing supply Conny with caffeine. I'll be set up properly by the time he comes to put the other two walls up.

Tomorrow, Christmas Eve, is the most important day of the Swedish Christmas. That is to say, it is the day that presents are opened. We are going to Niklas's parents' house and I understand they are excited to have an Englishman in attendance as they will be able to show me how a traditional Swedish Christmas is done. I am intrigued, and shall be armed with an English Christmas cake.

On a sillier note, I am more than partly responsible for the disco ball that is now hanging in the boardroom of Bombadil Publishing AB. Kudos to co-conspiritor Marianne.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Cheese!

I've been happily playing with the camera, which Marianne located yesterday. The lawn now resembles tank training ground that has been abandoned because tanks can no longer negotiate it. On the plus side, the drains have been repaired.

I am now a legal alien (cue bad singing) in Sweden; the tax authorities, having got over their initial surprise at someone volunteering to pay tax, have registered me. This involved a trip to Oebro, about half an hour's drive away, and a trip to IKEA on the way back. I'm waiting to see exactly what it is that Sara will be arriving with on Sunday before opening an account there, but it was still interesting to see how a genuine Swedish IKEA store differs from the variety that inhabit the UK. There is no difference at all, by the way.

My office now has a plant. I surmise that it has formerly seen service in a restaurant as a wine fridge - it's full height, with a glass door and lights at the top. It's branded Vichy Nouveau and it puts just about every other fridge in the shade. It's one cool fridge. Marianne and I moved it from one of the barns the other evening with the aid of a pallet truck, lots of bad jokes and a discussion about the metaphysical moustache!

Having spent hours cleaning, polishing and generally admiring my new fridge, I have identified only one problem so far - I keep walking past it and assuming that I have left the door open - as the light is on and I can see the contents. I'm sure I'll get used to it. I hope Sara shares my enthusiasm for Aphrodite. (Yes, I have named it.)

The snow has temporarily melted, which is causing rather a problem as the Orica guys are digging like there is no tomorrow; perhaps they were rabbits in a former life. On second thoughts, probably not, as there are still only two of them. Anyway, all the melt water has turned the tarmac very muddy and the lawn is a total quagmire to the point where they got their four wheel drive digger (fitted with studded snow tyres) stuck yesterday. So much for my plans to play croquet out there in the summer then.

More exciting news - our two Norwegian friends, Morton and Aksel of the web video company Cnit Vision were here on Monday and Tuesday. They will form an important part of out Media Centre, a self-sufficient project that we are setting up in some of our surplus office space. Morton and Aksel are great fun - Morton is the first person to play the grand piano with competence, so hopefully he won't mind being roped in as session musician occasionally. Of course, we haven't told him about his new role yet...

We also went to visit Niklas's mine - it was the first time that I had seen it. It comprises a large collection of red timber buildings, dominated equally by both the mine-head and the main processing building, which is built onto a hill so as to utilise gravity in the ore sorting process. Niklas is heavily involved in a long running project to demonstrate the feasibility of establishing a lunar colony, with the target of having the colony in place on the moon any time between 2018 and 2024. My first question was "what does an old iron ore mine have to do with a lunar colony?" Well, the idea would be to build the lunar colony underground, so as to offer protection against meteor strikes etc and to make it easier to establish some sort of artificial contained atmosphere – and where better to test the concept than at the bottom of a disused mine. Read all about it here - in the words of the people in the know, not my paraphrasing.

Finally, yet more exciting news – we had our first meeting today with me in my role as a Bombadilian rather than as a painter. Certain jobs have been apportioned – I am taking responsibility for the daily video clip, the Bombadil blog (yes, before you ask, I will update it more often than this one!) and the emerging international markets including, intriguingly, Mexico. Watch this space!

Adios, amigos.

The day of the Giver of Light, Saint Lucia

"M'Mother" has been complaining that I haven't updated m'blog often enough. So here is what happened at the weekend.

I've painted my kitchen over in the Relaxation Suite - the walls are no longer orange! It's now a rather pleasant pinkish/beige colour. My original plans to paint the kitchen purple were thwarted by Marianne, which is probably a good thing.

On Saturday evening there was a Saint Lucia concert at the church in Nora. It's a ceremony which opens the month-long Christmas festivities. Marianne and Niklas were busy doing something or other; the children were busy doing something or other else, so I went down myself to have a look. It was essentially a candle-lit concert by the church choir (including a lot of children) singing a mix of traditional Swedish Christmas songs, Christmas carols translated from English and even "we wish you a merry Christmas" in English. The choir was led by a girl with a crown of eight candles (lit) on her head. During this time, Father Christmas and a chap in a papier mache ram's head gave out sweets. The church itself is a very beautiful building; plain white on the outside, but red and green and gold inside and full of murals.

More later...

Snow and paint

Marianne's washing machine, dish washer and some other appliance (I forget which) arrived today. The delivery was late because, according to the driver, "the lorry went into a ditch." Might have had something to do with the three inches of snow that fell. It's the wet type of snow rather than the dry type, but still our walk this evening was spectacular. It's very, very quiet with so much snow, for some reason.

The good chaps from Orica (the company who sold us the site) have spent the day digging an enormous hole in an attempt to solve the mystery of Why The Basement Fills Up With Water. Marianne's basement, not mine. I don't have a basement, which means less space to store wine and less space to paddle in too. The contracts are yet to be formally exchanged, so Orica are footing the bill for half a dozen men and various earth moving equipment. I can't imagine that happening in England. The vendor would simply send various contractors to assess the situation, before announcing that none of them could start work before February in any case. Then, just to be doubly sure, he would go on holiday to Corfu for three weeks.

The bedroom walls are finished. I just need to paint the skirting boards (they're looking a little tired) and lay the carpet. The carpet may have to wait a bit though, I attempted to cut a square earlier and my marathon carpeting in the enormous living room appears to have dome something to my carpet cutting muscles (don't laugh). I'm sure I'll be in fine pile-slicing form in a few days though and it would be nice to have the bedroom completed by the time the gang return from England on Friday night.

Day two of dog "ownership"

Having a dog is a new experience for me. Pixie has been following me around all day like a shadow. It was a bit disconcerting at first, but I'm getting used to it. I suppose she normally has a choice of five people to be with, but now it's just me. Being Marianne's dog, she's completely bonkers. She also has an identity crisis. If you want her to come, calling "Pixie!" is not particularly effective. Shouting "Pot!" or "Pot Head!" works quite well, though. I am assured that this is short for "potty-head", which in turn is not a reference to a small child's toilet equipment (as in potty-mouth), but just means bonkers, which she is. If you want her to sit, you may try saying "bottom!" or perhaps "Pixie sit bottom", which works roughly one third of the time. The other two thirds of the time you may as well just sit down yourself. We've just been for a nice long walk, during which she managed to wrap the lead around a tree only once, which is an improvement on yesterday’s walk. She's currently asleep in her basket in the study by my desk. It's cold out tonight, but a dry cold that's quite refreshing. There was the very lightest dusting of dry powdery snow this afternoon. According to the lady in the paint shop, Sweden is having very odd weather this year. I think there is supposed to be a lot more snow.

Today, I finished the first coat on the walls in the bedroom, so that it can be finished tomorrow. I also put two coats on the living room window (the window that I unaccountably missed before) and finished the last eight carpet squares, having moved the huge pile of damaged tiles that was in the way. I also went shopping for groceries and bought more paint. I picked up some colour charts as well, so I'm hoping to have the paint selected and bought in time for the weekend, when I can spend two days painting the relaxation suite. Magnolia for the hallways, dark red and almond white for the bathroom, light grey/blue for my bedroom and I can't paint Sara's bedroom because it hasn't been built yet...

Books and paint (a recurring theme)

Yesterday, I spent almost the entire day levelling Marianne's bookshelves. 3000 books take a lot of shelf space, and the floor in the living room is particularly wonky. It took lots of wedges to correct a deviation of nearly 3 inches from end to end.

Today, Marianne, Niklas, Alex and Josephine have flown to England to visit the children's grandfather, so peace has descended once more. I have custody of Pixie, a miniature Doberman, who is currently asleep in her basket by my desk in the Relaxation Suite. She's been following me around all day and even sat faithfully outside the sauna. Other than that, I painted some more of the bathroom and decided on the colour scheme for the Relaxation Suite, having consulted with Sara. I have to go and buy some more paint tomorrow morning (as well as picking up some groceries) so I'll get some colour charts and see if the colours I want actually exist.

Sara will be bringing her worldly possessions (well the worldly possessions that she will be moving from Trolhattan to Nora) on 21 December, so hopefully that will fill this huge house up a bit. Marianne and Niklas have also approved the plans for partition walls; the carpenter has been to have a look but is a bit pushed for time. We will probably appoint him to erect the studwork, then I will put up the plasterboard and lining paper.

Sunday

A few more things happened today. Niklas and I moved my washing machine in from one of the workshops and put it in the mop cupboard, where it is awaiting installation by both the plumber and the electrician. In the mean time, I have renamed the mop cupboard the laundry room. I cut a bit more of the hedge down, so I can see the lake from my desk in my house, which I have set up in the study. Marianne and I also moved another desk into my office in the Bombadil building, which is starting to look a little more like an office and a little less like an old room with a very bad paint job. Well, a little less, anyway. It'll be better when I get a chair to go with my desk.

Snow and water beds

Three or four inches of snow fell today, which is really very beautiful, however it is not cold enough to allow the lake to freeze, which happened a few weeks ago. The movers have unloaded all of Marianne and Niklas's worldly possessions and consequently I have sat on a sofa for the first time since I have been in Sweden. We had celebratory pizza and champagne this evening whilst discussing the future of the great dream that is Bombadil Publisihing.

Niklas and I spent a few hours setting up the water bed - the hose connectors had a tendency to break apart; a problem that I solved by raiding a bin full of old air hose components in one of the workshops on site here. Having fixed the first hole in the mattress, Niklas then proceeded to put his finger through the vinyl in a completely different place, meaning that the whole thing had to be emptied prior to being thrown away and a new mattress acquired. Emptying is still taking place as we speak, via a painfully slow siphon process. Perhaps tomorrow we will experiment with pumps...

Marianne and family have arrived (as predicted in yesterday's entry)

Marianne, Niklas, Alex and Josephine have arrived today, marking the official arrival of Bombadil Publishing in Nora. The complete tranquillity in building 1010 has been shattered and an organised but exciting chaos ensues!

I'm over in the peace and quiet of the Relaxation Suite, watching the lights on the far shore of the lake reflect in the flat calm water. There was a light sprinkling of snow this afternoon which has settled, making everything pristine and white.

On a more practical note, the carpet is down! I've never been on my knees for so long in my life, but I am happy to report that the 1000 sq ft living room is now carpeted. Well, except for a few tiles by the door where there is currently a stack of unused tiles standing around 150 high and I'm not moving them tonight. Carpet tiles weigh a ton! Tomorrow morning at round 07.00 Marianne's moving guys will commence unloading. I'll drop in for breakfast at around 10.00 and see how it's going. Then maybe in the afternoon I'll finish painting the bedroom...

Decorating is nearing completion!

Marianne and her entourage arrive tomorrow! I have nearly finished decorating the living room; about two thirds of the carpet tiles are down. The room has a circumference of 51 meters and every tile has to be cut so it fits snugly against the wall, or around pipework, or into doorways. It has been a very long day (as it has been all week, hence the lack of updates) but the room is starting to come together; the carpet is setting the walls off very well. I've also moved the concert grand piano (how much does a concert grand weigh?) without crashing it into a pillar and the large antique cupboardy thing. I've just got to finish the carpet tomorrow and paint a window frame that I somehow overlooked and it's finished! It's a great space in an old industrial building, high ceilings, big windows, interesting fuseboxes etc; it'll make a great place to entertain. If you can play the piano, please let me know. I've managed the theme to 'Local Hero' with one finger, which seems like rather a watste of such a beautiful instrument. I may have pianists' fingers, but a pianist I am not.

A weekend away from the paint brush

So, since I've been in Sweden, I haven't published many entries. Marianne now tells me that she has put a link on the Bombadil website to m'blog, so I am endeavouring to do a little better. Especially as it's the weekend and I'm not painting her huge living room!

I've been looking around the Relaxation Suite for Useful Things To Do. I've drawn up the plans for the stud walling that needs to be put in to create the bedrooms, but this is awaiting the approval of Marianne and Niklas, who will arrive on Thursday. I was going to paint the ceilings, but having looked up for the first time I've discovered that they're all covered in insulating tiles. Quite tasteful and attractive and they certainly cannot be painted. I'm not going to paint the kitchen/hallway etc until Sara has chosen the paint (it's her home as well and I don't want to get into trouble for painting it the wrong colour). So I decided to do some work on the West Bedroom. Well, what will become the West Bedroom once a short section of partition wall is erected. The are two little rooms each with a toilet and a wash basin in this area; the plan is to position the wall so that the door to one of the WCs is within the bedroom, creating a sort of an ensuite. Not the sort of ensuite with a shower or a bath, just one with a bog and a basin. But useful none the less. The problem: The wash basin in the toilet that is to become the ensuite has no plug. The plug wasn't missing, it was never designed to have a plug in the first place. The basin in the second WC however, did have a plug. So I set about swapping the plug holes. An easy job, or so I thought. I fitted the new plug hole in the ensuite and all was well. Then I went to fit the plugless hole in the non-ensuite WC; it was too long. Being of different designs they were of differeing lengths and the position of the waste pipe meant that it wouldn't fit. Grrr! I toyed with the idea of swapping the basins over, not because this would solve the problem (it wouldn't) but because the one in the non-ensuite was more compact and took up less space. I decided against this course of action as they were both fitted with monoblock mixer taps which are a swine to fit in the first place, let alone trying to reposition them once the supply pipes have been cut to length. So I swapped that plughole with another in the bathroom (from one of the 8 washbasins), tightening up a few compression fittings which stopped a few slow leaks in the process. It seems that things in a Swedish house are the way they are for a reason. Well never mind, I won in the end.

I went for a bit of a walk today as well, around the lake until I could see Bombadil Towers from the far shore. I hasten to add I didn't walk all the way round the lake; it's very big! I took some rather wonky photos on my mobile phone, which I will post as soon as Marianne arrives with the USB cable. I must buy a proper SLR camera - this place is so photogenic. I think it's the light.

I'm here!

I've arrived! The crossing from Harwich to Esbjerg was terrible, there were force 10 gales and 7 meter waves. I fell out of the bunk five or six times... The boat docked at 18.00; I arrived in Nora at 05.30, having driven the trusty old Merc through the night. It's very beautiful in Nora, there was snow a few days ago but it's cleared now.

Number one priority here at the moment is to paint Marianne and Niklas's living room, and lay the carpet, before the grand piano and the 3000 books arrive next week (hence the lack of blog updates). Everyone else has gone back to Trolhattan until the "big move" on December 5th, so it's just me here. The other day I went and made friends with the lovely Swedish lady in the paint shop and bought a huge quantity of paint, and made a start that evening. The living room is big. No, it really is. It's massive. I measured it so I knew how much paint to buy - it's 18 meters long and 20 meters wide, and the floor area is 350 square meters. The ceiling is also 3.3 meters high. I found a huge (and heavy) wooden step ladder and started painting the bloody ceiling, it took forever; I was going up and down the ladder the whole time. Then I had a Good Idea; I fixed three broom handles together, then attached tha paint roller to one end, and got rid of the ladder. Then I was able to walk around on the floor and paint the ceiling. I was incredibly suprised and very happy when it worked!

Sara and I have moved into what used to be the "relaxation suite", a rather brilliant name that is staying. Or the "chill hut" for informal occasions. Although it's not much of a hut. It has 8 huge rooms, 4 toilets, a bathroom with 8 wash basins, 3 shower cubicles and a sauna. There's a big drying cupboard in the hallway, a bit like an airing cupboard, but it's connected to the heating system. The heating system is amazing, there are radiators everywhere, the entire bathroom floor is heated and there is also a ventilation system to bring fresh air in. It's a crazy bonkers place, ysterday I found a cleaners' cupboard with a mop cleaning sink in it - it turns out to be perfect for cleaning paint brushes. There is a drinking fountain in the kitchen also... I was going to get rid of it, but I've decided now we might as well turn it into a water feature.

I'm getting old

I went to a bar last night with some of the people who I used to work with. First of all, my very good friend Lisa Sanford and I completed the Plymouth-Dakar Rally. It's a bit like the world famous Paris-Dakar, only you take a car that cost £100, which makes it a lot more interesting. Then another friend, Marianne Rugård Järvstråt, set up a publishing company and offered to publish my writing. So I had an excellent idea for a book and a publisher. The result is a rather fine book called "It'll Be Fine". Not content with merely publishing my ramblings, Marianne then offered me the chance to work with her at Bombadil in Sweden, which of course I jumped at.

So there is a ferry booked from Harwich on the 21st November, to Denmark, from where it is either a treacherous or an easy drive up to Nora, somewhere south of Stockholm, depending upon how much ice there happens to be. Fortunately, I have a bit of experience of silly journeys, so it shouldn't be too bad.

I'm still not entirely certain what I'm going to be doing. I understand that there is rather a lot of painting to be done, and some floors to be laid, once the "laminate versus carpet" debate has been settled. Then there is the Spring Festival to organise, with some special guests. And a bit of general publishy fun in the middle.

I'm not going to write m'blog daily - it would be nice, but it's an unrealistic expectation. Probably around once a week, or if something interesting happens. So check in from time to time and see if I'm still alive.

Please note that I shall not be using the word "blog" as a verb, either.
